Covid Policy Update – September 20, 2021

We hope everyone is making their way through these ever-changing times.  In light of this, please know that we are thinking about you all as this is not an easy time for anyone!  As a studio, we wanted to update you regarding our plans moving forward. As always will keep our cleaning protocols and social distancing practices in place.  In order to limit traffic, we ask that parents wait in their vehicles as much as possible to ensure we reduce the traffic in reception. Thank you for taking the time to read this. We appreciate your patience as we try to make the best choice for our staff, our students and our business.

As of Monday, September 20th, we are making the decision to implement the Restriction Exemption Program, a Covid-19 Public Health Action set forth by the Provincial Government.  This means that for anyone ages 18 and over (including parents/grandparents and other adults driving the student), we will need to see proof of vaccination, proof of medical exemption or proof of negative testing if you wish to continue to come to in-person private lessons (for the time being).  Please see below for specifics on our group classes.  When you come into your next lesson, we will make note of your records so that you do not have to show it to us every week. Please remind anyone in your family that is coming into our building, to bring their proof of vaccination with them!

For anyone under age 18 (0 to 17) We are able to continue offering in-person lessons with the existing protocols already in place.  For anyone that is not comfortable coming in or is not able to meet the above requirements, we would love to have you join us on Zoom and we will do everything we can to give you the best, highest quality music education possible through your Zoom lesson!

To clarify and for any further specifics, here are the guidelines for the Restriction Exemption Program, as per the Alberta Government website:

  • proof of vaccination
      • single dose accepted between September 20 and October 25 if received 2 weeks before the time of service
      • double doses required after October 25

  • documentation of a medical exemption

  • proof of a privately-paid negative PCR or rapid test within 72 hours of service (tests from AHS or Alberta Precision Laboratories not allowed)

We are looking at each individual class and lesson type and making the necessary plans so that we can offer good, solid music education for all.  Our classes will continue to run with the standards outlined above.  In addition to this, here are some of our “other plans” moving forward:

Musical Maestros:  We will continue to offer these classes in-person but with an online option as well.  The above vaccination requirements will only apply to the parents of each child.  We will set up a camera for all individuals who wish to join us by ZOOM and we will ship out an “instrument package” for each family so that you can use the same instruments at home too!  We always have two instructors, so one instructor will remain more stationery so they can instruct both the live and the Zoom students, and the other instructor will roam around the room more so that everyone can receive the best possible experience.

    • We will set up a camera for all individuals who wish to join us by ZOOM and we will email out your handouts for printing at home so that you can follow along as seamlessly as possible!  When singing/playing along at home, you can just mute your microphone when it comes time to sing or play!

Kids Music Classes Edmonton, Adult Rock Band Jam Edmonton, Teen Rock Band Jam Edmonton, Teen Music Classes Edmonton, Kids Music Classes Sherwood Park, Kids Musical Theatre Classes Edmonton, Toddler Musical Theatre Classes Sherwood Park, Music School Edmonton, Music School Sherwood Park, Music Lessons Edmonton, Music Lessons Sherwood Park,

Adult We Jam Bands:  We will continue to offer this class in-person but with an online option should you choose to participate in this way.

Musical Theatre & Youth We Jam Bands:  We will continue to offer these classes in-person but with an online option should you choose to participate in this way.  The vaccination requirements will only apply to 18 and over students in a group setting (see Alberta Government wording below) so we will continue to offer our classes live but with social distancing and mask wearing protocols in place.  Also, just to confirm, both our teachers are fully vaccinated.

      • Indoor group classes, training, and competitions are permitted, but participants are required to:

        • screen for symptoms
        • maintain 2 metres distancing, except youth while engaged in physical activity
        • wear a mask, except youth while engaged in physical activity

      • Spectator attendance is restricted to 1/3 fire code capacity, attendees are limited to a single household or 2 close contact if living alone and must be masked and maintain 2 metres physical distancing.

      • Outdoor activities can continue with no restrictions.

    • We plan to set up a camera for all individuals who wish to join us by ZOOM and we will email out your handouts for printing at home so that you can follow along as seamlessly as possible!  We always have two instructors, so one instructor will remain more stationery so they can instruct both the live and the Zoom students, and the other instructor will roam around the room more so that everyone can receive the best possible experience.  When singing/playing along at home, you can just mute your microphone when it comes time to sing or play!

Crescendo Chorus:  We will continue to offer this class in-person.  We will continue to offer this class with masking, social distancing and stringent cleaning protocols in place as all children are under the age of 12.

  • Private Students:  As mentioned previously, anyone age 12 and over that is a student and/or comes into the building with a student, will be required to show their documentation.  If you are fully vaccinated, then we will record this information the first week in the hopes that we will not need to request this information on an ongoing basis.

Please understand, we are doing our best to get through this time together, and we are forever appreciative of all the support, care, concern and encouragement we have received from so many of you.  Thank you for being your most understanding and patient selves.  We are forever thankful!
